As you might expect from a country as vast as Australia, there is great regional diversity across Regional Australia.

This diversity comes in part from varying geography because this has a great impact on life style. But it also comes from differing histories and ethnic mixes. Tracks Theatre Company, Darwin

There is, for example, a vast difference between the world of Sturt, Mittagong, one of Australia's oldest potting schools with its English setting, and the images displayed by the Tracks Theatre Company in Darwin.

To many of those living in our great metro cities, parts of their own country are less well known, stranger, than than overseas places such as Rome or Hong Kong.

We write a lot about Australia's various regions on this site as well as our blog. These stories focus on particular issues, sometimes themes. This can make it difficult to see them in an integrated, regional way.

To overcome this problem, we have established this page as a way of integrating our various stories on a regional basis.
